Holland America Line’s (HAL) latest newbuild is to sail in the Mediterranean after debuting in February 2016.
The 2,650-guest Koningsdam is due to leave Fincantieri’s Marghera yard on 15 February and will depart on a seven-day Premiere Voyage from Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy, to Dubrovnik, Croatia; Kérkira (Corfu) and Katakolon (Olympia), Greece; and Naples, Italy.
From the end of February to early May, Koningsdam will offer six 12-day Premiere Sailings on two alternating roundtrip itineraries from Civitavecchia. The first itinerary calls at Katakolon, Piraeus, Rhodes and Crete in Greece; Istanbul (overnight) and Kusadasi in Turkey; and Naples. The other itinerary visits Naples; Palermo, Sicily; Cagliari, Sardinia; Gibraltar, British Territory; and Cádiz, Málaga, Cartagena and Barcelona (overnight), Spain.
“Since we announced Koningsdam, guests have been anxiously awaiting itinerary details, so we’re pleased to share the spring Mediterranean season,” said Richard Meadows, HAL’s executive vice president of sales, marketing and guest relations. “We have a very loyal following and we anticipate these cruises will fill up quickly, so I recommend booking early.”
Koningsdam, which is the first in HAL’s Pinnacle class and the largest ever built for HAL, will accommodate 2,650 guests and 1,025 crew members. The ship will offer a range of new innovative features and reimagined interiors created by hospitality designer Adam Tihany and designer and architect Bjorn Storbraaten.
