Kristiansand in Norway is to officially open its new cruise pier on 31 May 2017, celebrating the milestone with a call from Costa Cruises’ Costa Favolosa.

Located in the heart of the city centre, the new pier will enable Kristiansand to accommodate cruise ships the size of Royal Caribbean International’s 360-metre-long Oasis-class vessels.

The port hopes that the pier will enable Kristiansand to become a ‘natural choice’ for a port of call between Norwegian cities Oslo and Bergen, and as an attractive destination for the Baltic market.

“This is a fantastic day, and marks the opening of a new chapter in our port’s history,” said Halvard Aglen, port director. “We’re also delighted to welcome Costa Favolosa as our first ship to the new pier. We appreciate returning cruise lines that have seen the benefits of port calls in Kristiansand. Costa Cruises is such a cruise line and we always look forward to welcoming the guests and crew from this particular cruise ship.”
