Lübeck –Travemünde in Germany has become the 29th cruise destination to join the Cruise Baltic association.
Travemünde has a dedicated cruise terminal with two berths and is located within walking distance of the shops, restaurants, cafés and beach. The distance to the Old Town of Lübeck, which has a UNSECO World Heritage site, is 12km.
“We believe Lübeck-Travemünde can add to the attraction of the Baltic Sea as a cruise destination, and in return we can gain considerable benefits from joining Cruise Baltic, including the opportunity of knowledge sharing with the other partners,” said Barbara Schwartz, head of marketing at Lübeck Tourist Board. “We are a boutique destination, ideal for welcoming the smaller, quality vessels and are expecting 19 cruise calls and approximately 15,000 passengers in 2016, which is a small increase compared to 2015.”
Claus Bødker, director of Cruise Baltic, said: “We are proud to welcome such an appealing destination into our portfolio and I am confident Lübeck-Travemünde’s investment in joining our progressive network will prove a mutually beneficial relationship for all involved.”
Cruise Baltic has also renewed its partner agreement with Scandic Hotels for 2016-2017, enabling the association to continue holding meetings at the Nordic hotel operator’s properties.
“We are delighted to extend our strategic partnership with Cruise Baltic. During the course of our collaboration and with the strong support of the network, Scandic has become a trusted brand for cruise lines around the world,” said Richard Stone, director of leisure sales at Scandic Hotels. “From Helsingborg to Helsinki, and all ports in between, we look forward to a continued, successful journey with Cruise Baltic and the network partners as a whole.”
