Italy’s port of La Spezia expects to handle a record 165 cruise calls and more than 465,000 passengers in 2014, marking a 117% rise from the 2013.
This year, a range of operators are set to visit the port including Costa Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, MSC Cruises, Disney Cruises, Ibero Cruises and Carnival Cruise Lines. Calls are also expected from AIDA Cruises, Pullmantur and Regent Seven Seas. Visitors arriving in the port can easily easy access to attractions in Emilia such as Cinque Terre, Portovenere, Lerici, Sarzana, Pisa and Florence.
The port authority is currently developing a new cruise pier at Paita wharf, which will enable it to accommodate two large vessels simultaneously.
