Carnival Cruise Lines 2124-passenger Carnival Legend is to undergo a multi-million dollar renovation before it is deployed to Australia in September 2014.

Following the upgrade, which is part of the line’s Fun 2.0 enhancement programme, the ship will feature the WaterWorks aqua park with Green Thunder, the steepest and fastest waterslide at sea; RedFrog Pub; the full-service Bonsai Sushi restaurant; Cherry On Top; the Serenity adults-only retreat; an expansive wellness centre; and more.

Prior to its deployment to Australia, Carnival Legend will offer a 13-day Panama Canal cruise and a 23-day trans-Pacific voyage. These voyages can be combined to create a 36-day cruise visiting ten destinations across three continents.

Departing from Tampa, Florida, the 13-day Panama Canal cruise will call at George Town, Grand Cayman and Cartagena, Colombia, before transiting the Panama Canal and visiting Puntarenas, Costa Rica and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The ship will then depart Long Beach California to sail to its new Sydney homeport in Australia. It will offer a crossing of the equator and extended visits to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Papeete in Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea in French Polynesia, Suva in the Fiji Islands and Noumea, New Caledonia.

“This is an incredible opportunity for guests to visit some of the world’s most awe-inspiring destinations, from beaches in Mexico and the Caribbean to tropical Polynesian paradises, as well as the unforgettable experience of transiting the Panama Canal and crossing the equator,” said Gerry Cahill, Carnival president and CEO. “These two voyages also provide guests a chance to be among the first to check out all the fantastic additions that are being added to Carnival Legend as part of our fleetwide Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement initiative.”

Carnival Legend will start its seasonal cruise programme from 24 September and provide eight- to 12-day cruises from Sydney, calling at a variety of destinations within the Pacific, including New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji.
