Royal Caribbean International is to introduce a new ‘Dynamic Dining’ concept onboard its new Quantum-class vessels when they debut in November 2014 and spring 2015 respectively.
Guests sailing on Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas will be offered a choice of 18 restaurant concepts, including popular favourites such as Windjammer Marketplace, Chops Grille steakhouse, Izumi Japanese Cuisine, Chef’s Table, The Cafe @ Two70˚ and more.
Reinventing the traditional main dining room and Chef’s Table, the ‘Dynamic Dining’ concept offers five complimentary, full-service restaurants, each with its own distinctive cuisine to offer guests a more intimate and varied dining experience every night of their cruise. Inspired by the classic American road trip, American Icon Grill will offer various regional dishes, while guests can enjoy a pan-Asian menu in Silk, contemporary meals in Chic and a classic, formal European dining experience in The Grande. In addition, suite guests can enjoy exclusive access to dishes with a fusion of Mediterranean and Californian flavours in Coastal Kitchen.
“We believe our guests will especially appreciate the array of experiences, the selections of foods and extent of choices in our complimentary, full service restaurants,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, executive vice president of operations, Royal Caribbean International. “Our specialty dining options are a wow and now with Dynamic Dining, we are raising the bar by also offering more choices of high quality, distinctive, complimentary restaurants than ever before – this truly changes everything for us. On our Quantum-class ships, guests will have the opportunity to set out on a spectacular culinary journey – with each night strikingly different from the last.”
British chef Jamie Oliver will also open his first at-sea Jamie’s Italian restaurant onboard Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas. First opened in Oxford, UK, in May 2008, the restaurant offers a relaxed dining experience with fresh, ethically sourced food.
“I’m thrilled to partner with Royal Caribbean, a brand that continually pushes the limits of what’s possible, to debut my very first restaurants at sea onboard the new Quantum-class ships,” said Oliver. “Royal Caribbean shares my approach to food and dining, which is to serve simple, fresh ingredients in a warm, inviting ambience. I couldn’t be more excited to bring my love of Italian cooking to its guests with Jamie’s Italian.”
Other new dining venues include Wonderland; Michael’s Genuine Pub, the first American gastropub at sea developed with James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz; and Devinly Decadence at Solarium Bistro, featuring a low-calorie menu designed by TV chef and author Devin Alexander.
To provide guests with the ability to choose dining venues, Royal Caribbean has also implemented a new reservation system and a planning tool. This enables guests to plan their culinary choices prior to departure.
The 167,800 gt Quantum class span 18 decks and carry 4,180 guests at double occupancy. Quantum of the Seas will launch in November 2014 and homeport in Cape Liberty, offering seven- to 12-night itineraries during the winter 2014-2015 season. Sister ship Anthem of the Seas, which is due to debut in spring 2015, will be based in Southampton, UK. She will offer cruises to the Mediterranean before homeporting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for the winter
