Liverpool Cruise Terminal in Liverpool, UK will host 64 ships and more than 85,000 passengers in 2016, ten more than in 2015.

Next year, the port will handle five inaugural visits, including Royal Caribbean International’s Brilliance of the Seas, Phoenix Reisen’s Artania and Amadea, and Ponant’s L’Austral. Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Magic will also call twice as part of her inaugural visit to the British Isles.

Liverpool will also welcome several overnight calls from ships such as Brilliance of the Seas, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Silhouette, Amadea and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Europa.

“Liverpool Cruise Terminal welcomes the world to the heart of our city,” said Angie Redhead, Liverpool Cruise and Operations manager. “We have a fantastic city-wide support network behind our cruise operation, a wealth of things to see and do in the region, award-winning attractions just a short walk away and a dedicated team of people ensuring every passenger has a great experience. When you combine all of these elements together, Liverpool’s appeal to the international passenger is unbeatable.”

In 2015, Liverpool’s cruise industry welcomed around 81,000 cruise passengers and 37,000 crew, which generated £7 million for the local economy.

In addition, the city hosted Cunard Line’s Three Queens for the first time, 50th birthday celebrations for Princess Cruises and 25th birthday celebrations for Celebrity Cruises. It also welcomed maiden calls from P&O Cruises’ Britannia and Oceania Cruises’ Marina and Nautica. Each visit was celebrated with a firework display, a quayside concert and special cakes. Regent Seven Seas’ Seven Seas Voyager also returned for the first time since it inaugurated the terminal when it opened in 9th September 2007.
