Lloyd Werft has completed a three-week drydock onboard Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Hanseatic at its Bremerhaven yard in Germany on 21 October.

During the drydock, engineers converted the expedition ship’s stabilizers to run on environmentally friendly biopetroleum, while the two main engines were completely overhauled.

Minor interior upgrades included replacing carpets, renovating the consultation area of the cruise sales department and modernising the backdrops in the onboard photography area. The ship was also decorated with around 240 large photographs of wildlife and natural landscapes taken by Hamburg-based photographer Michael Poliza.

Hanseatic departed Bremerhaven on a two-week cruise to Tenerife, Spain. The ship will call at Portsmouth, UK; Leixoes, Lisbon and Portimao in Portugal; La Coruna, Cadiz, Casablanca, Lanzarote, Santa Cruz and San Sebastian/La Gomera in Spain.

From November 2015 to May 2017, Hanseatic will offer 11 adventure cruises to destination such as the Arctic, Antarctica, the Amazon, South Seas islands, and the Chilean fjords. The ship will also sail the Northeast Passage, as she did in 2014.
