Louis Cristal wrapped up Cuba Cruises’ 2014-2015 cruise season when she called at the Sierra Maestra Terminal in Havana, Cuba, last week.

The line experienced a rise in the number of American travellers booking its Cuba cruises due to a new travel agreement between Cuba and the US.

“Our last season in Cuba proved to be our most exciting one yet and we experienced a record surge of American interest in our cutting-edge cruise programme, welcoming more US travellers aboard than ever before,” said Dugald Wells, Cuba Cruise president. “As new developments come into play, we anticipate a significant portion of our guests will come from the emerging American market in 2015-2016.”

From January 2015, Cuba Cruises has offered an exclusive People-to-People cruise programme in partnership with the US non-profit organisation Fund for Reconciliation and Development. The organisation authorises legal travel to Cuba as part of the new general licence introduced by the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Highlights of the cruise include Cuban-guided day trips to historical, social and religious places of interest, such as Santiago de Cuba, Trinidad and Cienfuegos. Guest can also enjoy dance and Spanish language workshops, onboard lectures from a University of Havana professor, and one-on-one conversations with Cubans onboard and onshore.

Cuba Cruise’s 2015-2016 season will run from 18 December 2015 to 28 March 2016.
