Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LIS) is to provide an IT network and related solutions for Seabourn Cruise Line’s new Seabourn Encore, which will debut in December 2016.

Contracted by shipbuilder Fincantieri, LIS will deliver an internet protocol-based IT platform for use onboard the ship. This will enable guests and crew to make phone calls via a wireless data network, browse the internet, call for services, or watch live TV. Additional applications, such as wireless LAN, lighting and door locks, will be integrated with the IT infrastructure to lower cabling and connection costs.

LIS previously provided its solution to Seabourn Sojourn, Seabourn Odyssey and Seabourn Quest.

Modelled on Seabourn’s Odyssey-class ships, the 41,700gt Seabourn Encore is the first of two luxury cruise ships Fincantieri will build for the line over the next three years. The ship will be configured with one additional deck, new expanded public areas, suites with private verandas and will carry just 600 guests.
