Norway’s Port of Lyngdal will welcome its first cruise call with the arrival of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Europa in 2014.
Lyngdal, which is located between Stavanger and Kristiansand, is expected to become the main port for cruise calls in the region, which also includes Farsund, Lindesnes and Flekkefjord.
Port operator, Small City Cruises (SCC), has collaborated with its regional ports and offers shore excursions to local landmarks such as Lindesnes Lighthouse, Emigration Museum and the WWII Occupation Museum. Cruise visitors can also take part in lobster safaris, birdwatching, rafting and golf at Kvinesdal and Utsikten. The port of Lyngdal has also trained 30 official Lister region guides, who can cover most of the European languages.
“Our philosophy is to offer cruise ships a call of intimate, varied, original and memorable impressions,” said Nils Otto Eriksen, marketing manager SCC. “These are based on quality, guaranteeing the shipping company positive feedback from new cruise guests and loyal repeaters.”
Visiting vessels can anchor 200 metres from the tender landing stage at the cruise pier, while most tours and shore excursions are within 30 minutes’ drive from the pier.
