Cruise & Maritime Voyages’ (CMV) newest ship made her inaugural visit to the Port of Dundee in Scotland on 29 March.
The 1,250-passenger Magellan, which joined the CMV fleet in March after she was christened by TV presenter and author Gloria Hunniford, berthed at King George V Wharf.
To welcome the 46,000gt ship, the Lord Provost of Dundee and Forth Ports’ director of Scottish Operations Stuart Wallace presented the crew with a plaque from the city of Dundee. Forth Ports also presented the ship with a commemorative print of the city of Dundee and a plaque.
“We were thrilled to welcome Magellan to Dundee at the weekend for her first call at the port,” said Rob Mason, head of cruise for Forth Ports Cruise. “Dundee is increasing in popularity for cruise holidays with sightseers benefiting from the waterfront investment in the city and also the close proximity to other places of interest.”
Magellan will call at Dundee three times this season including on 5 and 12 April as part of her seven-night Norwegian Fjords cruise.
“Support for our cruise departures from Dundee and the area has been remarkable with more than 2,000 people choosing to cruise closer to home,” said Mike Hall, head of marketing at CMV. “We are pleased that it means good business for us and of course for the Dundee area with local transport companies, hotels, shops, suppliers and others benefiting.”
