The Mayor of Miami, Tomas Regalado, has committed his support to the International Humanitarian Assistance Symposium 2012 – an event that will look to enhance industry response to emergency and disaster, giving support to those involved in any such crisis.

“We endorse the work of the Family Assistance Foundation and believe our city is the perfect location for this symposium, with many of the organisations affected by these important issues calling Miami home,” he said. “We are proud to be an official supporter of the International Humanitarian Assistance Symposium 2012 and you may count on us for whatever support you may need.”

The two-day conference will consist of a series of panels, workshops and talks given by survivors of accidents as well as responders and a cruise specific panel discussion with industry professionals discussing their response procedures to emergencies.

“We are proud to sponsor this symposium which will help cruise ports learn what to do in the event of an unforeseen tragedy,” said Tom Spina, director of cruise operations, NYCruise. “While we can’t always know when an emergency or disaster will occur, we should always be prepared to react if something happens.”
