Marella Cruises has chosen Columbia Cruise Services (CCS) to provide technical management services for its two newest ships – Marella Explorer and a yet-to-be-named vessel, which are currently sailing as TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2.

CCS already provides technical management onboard four of Marella Cruises’ ships – Marella Dream, Marella Celebration, Marella Discovery and Marella Discovery 2 – but will extend its agreement to cover the two new vessels when they join the fleet after extensive refits. Marella Explorer will begin sailing in summer 2018 and the second ship will debut in 2019.

“We consider Columbia Cruise Services to be a leader in cruise ship management and I am pleased that the company will support us to deliver our next two ships,” said Adrian Hibbert, Marella Cruises’ director of operations. “The tender process for the technical management of the newest ships in the Marella Cruises fleet was a lengthy and rigorous one and we are confident that will deliver the excellent efficient operational service we have come to see.”

Olaf Groeger, CCS managing director, said: “We are proud that we withstood the extensive tender process, and assure that we put all efforts into a successful continuation and development of our cooperation with Marella Cruises.”
