Marella Cruises is to visit two new ports in its winter 2025 programme, with calls to Ponce in Puerto Rico and Isla Catalina in the Dominican Republic onboard Marella Discovery.

The new ports of call will feature on the ‘Tropical Isles’ itinerary, which will see Marella Discovery depart from La Romana in the Dominican Republic. The ship will then visit San Jean in Puerto Rico and Charlotte Amalie and Frederiksted in the US Virgin Islands before calling at Ponce and Island Catalina. It will then return to La Romana to conclude the cruise.

The winter programme will also include sailings of the ‘Island Explorer’ itinerary from 28 November onboard Marella Voyager and adults-only ship, Marella Explorer 2, visiting Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Maderia and La Palma. Guests will be able to choose between sailing from either Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and will be able to have an overnight stay in port at Funchal, Madeira.

Later in the season, Marella Discovery 2 will sail the ‘Exotic Islands’ itinerary from 8 January 2026, which includes calls to Barbados, St. Lucia, Aruba, Curacao and Grenada. The itinerary will include new overnight onboard stays available in Willemstad, Curacao, and cruise and stay options available in Hilton Barbados Resort in Needhams Point and Radisson Aquatica in Hastings, Barbados.

A new year sailing onboard Marella Voyager will include a call in Madiera for the annual firework display, along with visits to Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Madeira and Gran Canaria.

“We’re excited to be announcing our winter 2025 programme, with our more remote island ports of call in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, allowing our guests to discover more,” said Chris Hackney, managing director of Marella Cruises. “By expanding our overnight onboard stay offering in the Curacao and Canary Islands and cruise and stay options in the Caribbean and Canary Islands, it will give guests a chance to explore the sights, with a chance to stay at our TUI hotels pre or post cruise.”
