United Technologies subsidiary Marioff has signed a five-year agreement to maintain its Hi-Fog water mist systems onboard 66 vessels across Carnival Corporation’s fleet.

Marioff will maintain the systems –which control and suppress fire by discharging a fine water mist at high velocity – across the Carnival Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, Seabourn Cruise Line, Cunard Line, Carnival Australia, P&O Cruises, Princess Cruise Lines and AIDA Cruises brands.

“Passenger and crew safety is by far the top priority for Carnival Corporation,” said Umberto Sampiero, vice president of strategic global sourcing at Carnival. “Our agreement with Marioff is part of our renewed focus on fire suppression systems and represents a critical measure to uphold our strong record of safe operations.”

As part of the agreement, Marioff will provide a broad range of services including annual and breakdown maintenance, extensive periodical preventive services and spare parts, as well as training the crew to operate the system.

The company has designed a standard, fleet-wide service programme to ensure all maintenance processes and documentation meet the latest original equipment manufacturer service recommendations, as well as IMO and class society regulations.
