Martinique welcomed 71.3% more cruise passengers between January and December 2014 compared to the same period in 2013, according to the Martinique Tourism Authority.
One of the fastest growing cruise destinations in the Caribbean, Martinique has recorded a 524% increase in cruise passenger arrivals since 2010.
“We could not be more pleased and proud of the results we’re seeing from the cruise sector,” said Karine Roy-Camille, commissioner of the Martinique Tourism Authority. “Without a doubt, the cruise sector is blossoming here in ‘The Isle of Flowers’, and with all the room we still have to grow and improve our tourism product, the best is yet to come.”
This season, which opened in November 2014 and will close in April 2015, Martinique is expected to handle a total of 176 cruise calls and 220,000 passengers.
“All of the major North American and European cruise lines have stops planned in Martinique this year, including Royal Caribbean International’s Quantum of the Seas in her inaugural season, and Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Splendor,” said Roy-Camille. “We are committed to further investment in the cruise sector and improving our overall tourist product to ensure that the strong results of the past few years will continue in 2015 and beyond.”
