Technology provider Maxicaster has extended its partnership with Marella Cruises to deploy its video and entertainment solution onboard Marella Voyager and upgrade the solution onboard its Explorer and Explorer 2 ships.
“We are extremely happy to further strengthen our partnership with Marella,” said Andrew Brown, chief operating officer at Maxicaster. “They are clearly focused on enhancing the passenger experience across all aspects of the operation and constantly push the boundaries of service excellent, something which is also very close to our heart.”
All three ships now use the latest version of the Maxicaster Move solution, which delivers live and playout channels. Marella Cruises can use the playout option to create, manage and schedule curated channels incorporating live TV, video on demand and onboard camera feeds. The UK-based cruise line, which is part of TUI, is using the solution to create customised channels for various purposes such as safety videos, destination videos, genre-based channels, and for broadcasting information to passengers.
Marella Cruises has also created dedicated live sports channels that will play video clips or promotional content related to an upcoming game and then automatically switch to a live stream as soon as the game starts. Once the game has finished, the channel will revert to showing Marella Cruises’ scheduled content.
Every channel can be included within the electronic program guide. This allows Marella Cruises to edit channel descriptions, so the playout channel is displayed in the same way as live channels.
“Maxicaster have been a valuable partner for a number of years, with their expertise and quality of product providing the basis of our onboard experience,” said Daniel Hanratty, head of technology at Marella Cruises. “We look forward to continuing working together to enhance our guest offering.”
