Frode Støldal has been appointed as the CEO of Maritime Communications Partner (MCP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Telenor group.
Effective from 18 August, the appointment is part of MCP’s strategy to strengthen its position as a global provider of innovative maritime communications solutions.
Støldal will replace the company’s founder Knut Hike, who will return to his former role as COO/CTO. Støldal has held various senior roles at Telenor group and spent the past three years as CTO of Telenor Norway, where he was responsible for the planning, roll out and operation of 4G-net. Previously, he was CIO of Telenor Asia’s subsidiary Grameenphone.
“MCP is growing and has many innovative value added services that are of interest to customers within cruise and ferry markets,” said Støldal. “This market is facing a major change where customers expect services that they are accustomed to on land, and it is a wonderful opportunity for me to take over a company that can deliver the entire value chain.”
