TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 5 is to be christened in Travemünde in the German city of Lübeck.
Currently under construction at the Meyer Turku yard in Finland, the 295m Mein Schiff 5 will be named in a ceremony on 15 July 2016.
Following her baptism, Mein Schiff 5 will embark on a maiden voyage to the Baltic ports of Tallinn, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; and Stockholm, Sweden. Throughout summer 2016, the ship will sail roundtrips from Kiel to Norway and the North Cape, and offer short trips to Copenhagen in Denmark.
“The cruise industry is a very important growing industry with great potential for the Schleswig-Holstein region,” said Reinhard Meyer, Schleswig-Holstein's minister of Economy, Labour, Transport and Technology. “It makes me very happy that after this year's launching ceremony of Mein Schiff 4 in Kiel, another port in our region has been chosen for the christening ceremony of Mein Schiff 5. This is an excellent signal for the cruise shipping industry in the Schleswig-Holstein region.”
Mein Schiff 5 will feature 15 decks and be able to accommodate 2,506 passengers in 1,250 cabins. Around 90% of the cabins will be outside, while 82% will feature balconies.
