Royal Caribbean International’s Odyssey of the Seas has been floated out of the building dock at Meyer Werft’s shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, marking a significant construction milestone.

Odyssey of the Seas, which is Royal Caribbean’s second Quantum Ultra-class ship, was towed to the outfitting pier in the shipyard’s harbour. Here, Meyer Werft will install the masts and chimney, carry out various tests and then complete interior outfitting work over the next few months.

Once constructed and outfitted, the 169,000gt ship will be conveyed down the river Ems to complete her technical and nautical sea trials. She is expected to debut in Europe in spring 2021, where she will sail her first Mediterranean cruises.
