Interior design company Mivan secured a number of cruise ship outfitting contracts totalling approximately £8 million in early 2013.

The company will provide its services to existing customers Carnival Australia, Crystal Cruises and Princess Cruises, while it will provide an interiors maintenance service onboard five Carnival UK vessels.

Mivan will work with London-based interior designer SMC Design on the refurbishment of Carnival Australia’s Pacific Jewel during a three-week drydock period in Sydney in August 2013.

Together, the two companies will design and manufacture features to modify the staterooms, convert the spa to a nightclub and outfit the children’s areas onboard the ship. Mivan previously refitted Pacific Jewel in 2009.

The company will also re-fit Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Serenity, after successfully completing previous refurbishment work on both Crystal Symphony and Serenity.

“We are delighted to be working alongside Mivan once again as part of this major refurbishment programme,” said vice president of marine operations at Crystal Cruises, Greg MacGarva. “Their strong offering of design development and in-house manufacture combined with very capable site supervision makes them a key player in the global outfitting market.”

Princess Cruises has also contracted Mivan to design and install a new spa, sushi bar and an international café onboard Sun Princess in Singapore in August.

Mivan also launched its Super Yacht Interiors brand at this year’s Cruise Shipping Miami trade show in Miami and is currently in discussion with a number of yards and yacht designers.
