Key shipping industry stakeholders including the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will discuss carbon capture during the keynote at the Motorship Propulsion & Future Fuels Conference, which will take place from 19-21 November in Hamburg, Germany.

Speakers from the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee, DNV, the Baltic and International Maritime Council, and Zero Carbon Shipping will discuss the latest updates on carbon capture, including European Union regulations. They will also look at the future of the technology, which is seen by many as a key element in the industry’s progress towards meeting global net-zero targets.

The event will also feature sessions exploring the latest developments in LNG, ammonia, methanol, liquefied hydrogen and wind propulsion, with a focus on determining which fuel is likely to be dominant in the future for the shipping industry. Hapag-Lloyd will also lead a session looking at retrofit solutions.

Over 200 attendees from 30 countries, including over 30 operators managing a combined fleet of 5,100 ships, are expected to attend the 45th Motorship Propulsion & Future Fuels Conference.

Further details of all speakers and the event programme are available on the conference website
