UK manufacturer and outfitter MPE Interiors has completed refits on two Stena Line passenger ferries and one P&O Ferries vessel.
All three contracts took place at shipyard in the UK and Ireland.
“This trio of contracts further boosts our experience and track-record in the passenger ferry market,” said Cliff Grainger, director of MPE. “Our mobility and flexibility is a key selling point as it enables us to operate between our Merseyside manufacturing hub and vessels located in any shipyard in the UK or Ireland.”
MPE travelled to Rosslare in the Republic of Ireland to deliver new furniture and materials for Stena Line’s Stena Horizon, which sails between Rosslare and Cherbourg in France. While on the ship, MPE refurbished more than 200 chairs, carried out upholstery work and replaced curtains.
The team also worked on Stena Europe, which was in drydock at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The ship, which sails from Rosslare to Fishguard in Wales, was fitted with newly upholstered banquet seating.
Meanwhile, MPE replaced the ceiling of the crew mess room and refurbished a ceiling in a passenger area onboard P&O’s Pride of York, which was docked at the A&P Tyne shipyard in Hebburn in the north east of England.
”We see major growth potential in the ferry market, which continues to thrive around the UK shores,” said Grainger. “However, MPE is also targeting growth across the broader maritime sector because we have a broad experience of working across many types of vessels, from ferries to super yachts, to commercial and military ships.”
