MSC Cruises has ordered two new LNG-powered World-class ships from French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique, bringing the total of World-class ships in the Swiss cruise line’s fleet to six.
The ships, currently referred to as World Class 5 and 6, will be delivered in 2029 and 2030, respectively. They will join the World-class ships already in operation, MSC World Europa, which launched in November 2022, and MSC World America, which was christened on 9 April 2025 at PortMiami in Florida. MSC World Asia and MSC World Atlantic are currently under construction and expected to begin operations in 2026 and 2027.
Once World Class 5 and 6 are operational, MSC Cruises' fleet will feature six World-class LNG-powered ships
The orders for World Class 5 and 6 will be subject to access to financing, as per industry practice.
