Miami is to serve as the year-round US homeport for MSC Cruises’ MSC Divina from 2016.
Originally, MSC had planned to deploy the 3,502-guest ship in Miami from November 2015 to sail winter Caribbean cruises and then reposition her to Europe to sail western Mediterranean voyages from April 2016.
Instead, the ship will now remain in Miami and offer 24 seven-night itineraries to multiple Caribbean ports. The weeklong butterfly cruises will alternate between MSC Divina’s traditional western Caribbean route and the eastern Caribbean, allowing guests to create longer 14-night voyages.
MSC Divina’s seven-night eastern Caribbean itineraries include calls at ports such as Philipsburg, St Maarten; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Nassau in the Bahamas. While sailing in the western Caribbean, the ship will visit Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; and Nassau.
Meanwhile, MSC Divina’s 2016 western Mediterranean programme will be covered by the 3,274-passenger MSC Fantasia. Departing from the Italian port of Genoa, MSC Fantasia will call at seven ports in seven days including Cannes, France; Palma, Majorca; Barcelona, Spain; the newly-added port of Ajaccio, Corsica; and Naples and La Spezia, Italy.
In turn, MSC Musica will operate MSC Fantasia’s scheduled summer 2016 Northern Europe itineraries, which include visits to Copenhagen, Denmark; Stockholm, Sweden; Tallinn, Estonia; St Petersburg, Russia; and Kiel, Germany.
