MSC Cruises has partnered with Technogym to introduce an exclusive Wellness Experience onboard its cruise ships.
Over the past year, MSC has worked with Technogym’s wellness, fitness, nutrition and technology experts to provide guests with a personalised programme that includes a wide range of dedicated activities and facilities.
“The global wellness travel segment is projected to grow by nearly 10% annually over the next five years, as holidaymakers are increasingly seeking out ways to combine being active and healthy with their holiday,” said Gianni Onorato, MSC’s CEO. “Through the launch of the MSC Cruises Wellness Experience powered by Technogym, the globally-recognised wellness experts, we are further expanding our offering and making available to our guests the first completely personalised, 360-degree wellness experience at sea.”
Prior to boarding their ship, guests will be invited to complete the online Aspiration Finder scientific questionnaire, which will be used to create a personalised Aspiration Map and form the basis of their onboard fitness and nutrition programme. Once onboard, guests will have a one-to-one health assessment with a certified ‘Master Trainer’ and a health check-up with an MSC doctor.
Wellness Experience guests will benefit from new group fitness classes developed in collaboration with Technogym’s experts, while shore excursions have been designed to complement their onboard fitness programme. Highlights include jogging around Ancient Olympia in Greece, a bike tour of Copenhagen in Denmark, hiking up Mount Floiena in Norway, beach training in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and a fun triathlon comprising kayaking, running and snorkelling in Cozumel, Mexico.
Technogym’s nutritionists have also developed a wellness menu that will meet the needs of guests’ personalised Aspiration Profiles. The menu, which will be offered exclusively to Wellness Experience guests in various onboard dining venues including the buffet, main restaurant and the MSC Aurea Spa bar.
To support their training programme, participants will receive complimentary internet access so they can use an exclusive version of Technogym’s mywellness app.
“For over 20 years we have been promoting the concept of wellness as a lifestyle made of regular physical exercise, a healthy diet and a positive mental attitude,” said Nerio Alessandri, Technogym president and founder. “Today wellness represents a global consumer trend that can impact on people’s life and health. This is why we are proud to partner with MSC Cruises to develop and deliver a unique and completely new wellness experience.”
Wellness Experience guests will be accommodated in top deck cabins, which will be equipped with a mini-bar with sports drinks, a wellness mat and Technogym Wellness Bag, sports clothing and a sports towel. They will also have access to a dedicated fitness TV channel with videos created by the experts at Technogym.
