MSC Orchestra made MSC Cruises’ first-ever visit Australia on 15 March when she called at the port of Brisbane.

The 2,550-guest ship visited as part of her first 33-night Grand Voyage from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to Perth in Australia, and made her maiden call at the port of Sydney on 17 March. Cruise passengers were able to visit various Sydney attractions and take shore tours to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains.

To commemorate the maiden call, the line hosted media and travel agents onboard MSC Orchestra throughout the day, and organised a fireworks display in Sydney Harbour, which was accompanied by popular Australian songs.

“We are honoured to welcome MSC Orchestra into Australian waters in what is a very special moment for MSC Cruises,” said Lynne Clarke, managing director of MSC Cruises Australia and New Zealand. “It is such an extraordinary sight to see her cruise past our iconic Harbour Bridge. Ms Clarke added “the company is looking to grow past its core leadership in the Mediterranean, as part of the €5.1 billion expansion plan launched in 2014.”

MSC Orchestra, which also made MSC Cruises’ first call in Singapore on 5 March, will make several other maiden calls before finishing her journey, including Melbourne on 18 March, Adelaide on 22 March, and Fremantle on 26 March.
