MSC Cruises’ new flagship MSC Seashore will be officially named at the cruise line’s private Bahamian island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, on 18 November.

The event will be attended by travel advisors and media representatives, as well as other company stakeholders. MSC Seashore will sail from Miami, Florida, on 17 November with guests onboard, allowing them a chance to explore the new ship.

Italian actress Sophia Loren will serve as godmother to the new ship, making it the 16th MSC Cruises vessel she has christened. Celebrations will take place both onboard the ship and on the island as the ship remains docked throughout the night, and will include a gala dinner and live entertainment.

The event will also involve a formal inauguration ceremony for Ocean Cay Marine Reserve, which opened in late 2019 but was closed shortly after due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The island has since undergone further work, which will be highlighted by MSC Cruises to invitees.

MSC Seashore will become the third MSC Cruises ship to be based in the USA, offering itineraries ranging from mini cruises to longer cruises of 8 and 11 nights from Miami. She will be joined by MSC Divinia in PortMiami for the rest of the season, while MSC Meraviglia will redeploy to Port Canaveral, Florida.
