MSC Cruises is to offer three wine-themed cruises onboard MSC Splendida this winter.
Offering guests the opportunity to learn about the traditions of Mediterranean wine production, the eight-day ‘On the Wine Routes’ cruises will depart from the Italian port of Genoa on 2 and 9 November and 14 December. Guests sailing on the November departures will visit the Italian ports of Naples and Messina, Tunis in Tunisia, Barcelona in Spain and the French port of Marseille. Those sailing on the December voyage will call at the Italian ports of Civitavecchia, near Rome, and Palermo in Sicily.
“Wine is an unbroken thread linking past to present in the Mediterranean, a region whose rich wine culture and history are admired all over the world,” said Gianni Onorato CEO of MSC Cruises. “As the region’s top cruise line it makes absolute sense for MSC Cruises to offer our guests a special wine-themed experience that celebrates this heritage.”
Each voyage includes city tours, as well as local wine tasting sessions and talks led by qualified experts. Guests can also enjoy an excursion to a wine producer or cellar, as well as a high quality beverage package, comprising wines served with onboard meals and a bottle of sparkling wine on Gala Night.
“Many people enjoy a glass of good wine, but some want to take this a step further and learn more about wine, its production, history and so on,” said Onorato. “Our ‘On The Wine Routes’ voyages offer a unique chance to discover more about wine in different countries under expert guidance, in an unhurried and enjoyable way.”
