Navantia Shiprepairs worked on four cruise ships simultaneously this week at its yard in Cadiz, Spain.
This marked the first time the Spanish yard has worked on four cruise vessels at the same time.
TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 3, which was berthed in Dock 4, was fitted with a new stern transverse propeller to help improve her manoeuvrability. To save time, the shipyard prefabricated a block of steel containing the new propeller so it could be quickly installed on the ship’s arrival.
Other ships include Semester at Seas’ World Odyssey, which will remain at the yard for around a month; The World, the largest privately owned residential yacht, which now features upgraded interiors; and Royal Caribbean International’s Splendour of the Seas, which will undergo complete interior and exterior remodelling between the end of April and May.
