TUI Cruises has confirmed that the Navis Engineering dynamic positioning control system installed onboard its latest newbuild Mein Schiff 3 is performing to a high standard.

The Navis Nav DP4000 system was designed to help reduce the 99,430 gt vessel’s fuel consumption, particularly during tendering operations.

Designed and built by STX Finland and christened on 12 June at Hamburg Cruise Center in Germany, the 294 m long Mein Schiff 3 features various technologies and systems to enable it to consume around 30% less energy than cruise ships of a similar size.

Mein Schiff 3 will operate itineraries from Malta to the Western Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea during summer 2014. In mid-November, the vessel homeport in Gran Canaria, and offer alternating weekly itineraries to Madeira in Portugal and the Spanish islands of La Palma, Tenerife and Fuerteventura, or Agadir in Morocco, La Gomera and Lanzarote.
