Neptun Werft laid the keel for Royal Caribbean International’s new Spectrum of the Seas at its shipyard in Rostock, Germany on 9 November.

Representatives from both the shipyard and the cruise line watched as the first 620-ton block was lowered into the building dock, marking the start of the physical construction stage.

Set to debut in 2019, Spectrum of the Seas is the first in the line’s Quantum Ultra class, the next generation on from the Quantum class. The ship will specifically be designed for guests in China and the Asia-Pacific region.
