New CEO for Valletta Port

Stephen Xuereb has been appointed as CEO of Valletta Cruise Port, which operates Valletta Cruise Terminal and Valletta Waterfront.

Xuereb, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Accountants, assumed the position on 1 June 2014, replacing John Portelli who served in the role for five years. He has been the group’s chief financial officer since 2009 and in this position, oversaw the financing of a €37million capital intensive project. Xuereb also played an active role in developing the cruise line business in Malta and was responsible for the travel retail operations within the group.

Speaking about his new role, Xuereb said the group will work with stakeholders to provide a consistent level of service to promote and support the cruise market in Malta. He also indicated plans to ensure that Valletta Waterfront remains a prime leisure and entertainment destination.
