New cruise facilities for Skagen

The Port of Skagen, situated at the top of Denmark between the Norwegian fjords and the Baltic, is set to develop a cruise terminal and reception facilities, following positive feedback from visiting cruise lines.

Developments at the port included mixed-use facilities which are able to accommodate vessels alongside of up to 330-metres inclusive of berth, as well as reception facilities and a support infrastructure for the cruise industry.

Bermello, Ajamil & Partners, a design and planning company, and Consult DC, a Danish consultancy firm, will provide forecast data, market support and business planning information during the planning and implementation stages of the project. The team will be communicating with key cruise lines during this phase

Skagen’s tourism board, tour operators and local stakeholders will collaborate to improve the city’s products and services and satisfy the demands of future cruise passengers.

Attractions include Skagen’s Museum, with its large collection of world famous paintings by local artists, as well as shopping, beaches, wild landscapes, a variety of local tours and dining venues offering the local speciality of freshly caught seafood.

The facilities are expected to be operational in early 2015.
