Norwegian Gem now features Norwegian Cruise Line’s popular dining venue O’Sheehan’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill.
Installed as part of the line’s Norwegian NEXT programme, the 24-hour complimentary casual dining venue was designed to evoke the ‘friendly atmosphere of a neighborhood Irish pub’ and serves meals such as fish and chips and chicken pot pie. Norwegian Gem is the second ship in her class to be outfitted with the venue, which was first introduced on Norwegian Epic.
In addition, specialty dining restaurant Moderno Churrascaria, Norwegian’s signature Brazilian-style steakhouse, was relocated to Deck 13. Sugarcane Mojito Bar, first introduced on Norwegian Getaway, was added adjacent to the new restaurant and features handcrafted mojitos in a tropical setting.
Meanwhile, guests sailing on select Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway itineraries will be able to attend exclusive onboard events with celebrity chef, restaurateur and TV personality Geoffrey Zakarian.
Sailing on Norwegian Breakaway’s 7 December itinerary from New York and Norwegain Getaway’s 10 January 2015 cruise from Miami, Zakarian will host a meet and greet session and a cooking demonstration to share his favourite recipes and cooking tips with guests. He will also sign copies of his recently released cookbook My Perfect Pantry: 150 Easy Recipes from 50 Essential Ingredients.
In addition, select guests will be able to enjoy a specially-curated Ocean Blue tasting menu served by Zakarian. This event will be hosted twice during each sailing and will include a five-course meal with wine and beverage pairings.
Zakarian has more than 25 years of experience in the culinary industry and designed the menus in the ship’s Ocean Blue by Geoffrey Zakarian seafood restaurant, The Raw Bar and Ocean Blue on The Waterfront.
The chef also has three popular restaurants in New York City and one in Atlantic City, and regularly appears on US TV shows Iron Chef America, CHOPPED and The Kitchen. Zakarian also serves as the culinary director for New York’s The Plaza Hotel.
