Ferry operator Viking Line is to launch new, multi-faceted entertainment options onboard its vessels this autumn.
In addition to bingo-, beer- and wine-themed cruises, Viking Line will provide varying entertainment programmes on each ferry.
“Instead of one major theme for all our vessels, we would like to offer several entertainment alternatives for our different target groups,” says Christa Grönlund, communications manager at Viking Line.
This autumn, passengers sailing on Mariella and Gabriella’s respective Helsinki-Stockholm voy-ages will be able to enjoy performances from an international show group as part of the ‘Bright Lights, Big Cities’ entertainment concept. The group will perform in the nightclub, lobbies and bars, enabling passengers to watch vocal performances, fast-paced shows and circus artistry.
“We can promise superb contemporary circus acts plus versatile song and dance performances,” says Lotta Bergman, entertainment manager at Viking Line. “Our goal is to surprise, move and delight our passengers.”
Meanwhile, guests sailing on Amorella from 18 August to 31 December can relive the 50s, 60s and 70s through a variety of onboard activities offered from Monday to Thursday. Each morning, guests can participate in musical quizzes and sing-along shows, and enjoy fast-paced con-certs in the spirit of the 50s and 60s in the afternoon. In the evenings, guests will be able to enjoy a retro disco experience.
The events will be hosted by Gary Revel Jr. and Linda Herranen, who will perform well-known hits in English as part of a quartet.
This September, Viking Cinderella is to host the first onboard wine and champagne fair on the Baltic Sea, enabling guests to taste exclusive wines from renowned specialists such as Moët Hennessy, Laurent-Perrier, Bottega, Franck Bonville, Charles Heidsieck and Veuve Clicquot.
Offered in response to requests from passengers, the fair will take place on two of Viking Cinderella’s cruises departing Stockholm on 11 and 12 September. Taking place in the Nöjescafé, the fair will be open from 6-10 pm as the ship sails from Stockholm. It will also be open from 10 am to 1 pm on the return voyage.
A large number of participating wine houses, several hundred kinds of wines and champagnes, and up to nine master class lecturers will be available on each cruise. In addition, guests will be able to enjoy an exclusive four-course menu in the Seaview restaurant.
“Sales of wines and champagnes onboard our vessels have constantly increased, along with pas-senger interest in these fine beverages,” said Gordan Schmidt, product manager at Viking Line. “For the past several years, we have organised well-attended whisky fairs that are ranked among the ten best in the world. Many of our guests have requested cruises that focus on food and beverages, so we are very pleased that we can now offer our passengers a champagne and wine fair onboard Cinderella, where guests can also enjoy a culinary experience.”
