The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s new ferry, Manxman, has embarked on its maiden voyage from Douglas, Isle of Man, to Heysham, Lancashire.

Manxman will regularly sail the route between Douglas to Heysham, with a journey time of two hours and 45 minutes. It will then expand to a route to Liverpool, UK, once construction of a new terminal is completed.

The new £76 million ($96.8 million) vessel has capacity for up to 948 people, as well as 10 per cent more capacity for vehicles than the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company’s previous ferry on the route. Manxman also features 40 cabins and a new bar offering locally produced spirits and beers.

Three premium lounges with floor-to-ceiling windows and reclining seats are available onboard, while a family zone offers a children’s play area for passengers travelling with children. There are also a range of pet facilities provided onboard, including four pet friendly cabins, two pet lounges linking to the car deck and a pet exercising area, and two sets of purpose-built kennels with CCTV monitoring.
