Crystal Cruises is set to offer the industry’s first hypoallergenic staterooms onboard Crystal Serenity following its US$17 million renovation at Cadiz’s Navantia shipyard in November 2013.
During the two-week drydock period, Pure Marine Solutions will partner with the cruise line to transform Serenity’s 70 AA veranda rooms into Deluxe Pure rooms through a seven-step air and surface purification process.
“For guests who suffer from allergies, have mild respiratory issues such as asthma, or who simply desire a respite from the air quality in many cities, these staterooms will become a haven of fresh air at no additional cost,” said Jack Anderson, Crystal’s senior vice president of marketing and sales.
The heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and surfaces of each room will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected using Pure’s advanced treatment, removing allergens and reducing the risk of common irritants. Pure will also apply a bacteriostatic barrier to furniture, fittings, curtains and carpets to repel microorganism growth for up to two years.
Allergy-friendly bedding, natural antimicrobial disinfectant and advanced air purification systems that filter 99.9 per cent of dust and impurities will help Crystal’s housekeeping staff to maintain the sanitised condition of the rooms. Pure’s specialists will also service the rooms every six months.
The rooms will be available to guests at no additional cost.
