Celebrity Cruises is to carry out extensive refurbishments onboard Celebrity Infinity and Celebrity Summit as part of its multimillion-dollar refurbishment programme.
Both refits will take place at the Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas. Celebrity Infinity will be refurbished between 15 and 29 October, while Celebrity Summit will be in drydock between 27 February and 12 March 2016.
One of the main new features will include the line’s first Rooftop Terrace venue, which will be located on the 12th deck and offer comfortable furniture, a large outdoor film screen with stereo surround sound. Guests will also have access to specially curated food options inspired by the entertainment, the destination.
“The Rooftop Terrace is a brand new way to enjoy the great outdoors on a modern luxury holiday,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO of Celebrity Cruises. “The popularity of our Lawn Club venues has shown us that some of the richest moments our guests enjoy are when relaxing in beautiful outdoor spaces. In creating the Rooftop Terrace, we wanted to create a hot spot where guests can kick back under the stars in the middle of the ocean, with amazing entertainment and food.”
As part of the US$8 million refresh, both ships’ Penthouse and Royal Suites will bet fitted with updated carpets, curtains and bed linens, as well as new fixtures, marble surfaces and comfortable seating in the bathrooms.
“We want these suites to be so luxurious and comfortable that it’s difficult for guests to leave at the end of their holiday,” Lutoff-Perlo said. “We want the entire ship to turn heads.”
In addition, Celebrity Infinity’s SS United States restaurant will be converted into speciality restaurant Tuscan Grille. The Mediterranean-inspired steakhouse will offer an updated menu with an accompanying Italian cocktail menu, an Italian wine list and new food options. On Celebrity Summit, The Normandie will be converted into Tuscan Grille.
Celebrity will also install an enclosed portrait studio and a cruise sales office, and refinish the pool tops and refresh the spa café and the solariums on both ships.
