Seabourn Cruise Line has appointed a 17-person expedition team for its 2014-2015 ‘Ultimate Antarctica & Patagonia’ voyages onboard Seabourn Quest.
Chosen and led by Seabourn’s expedition programme manager Robin West, the expedition team comprises naturalists, scientists, cultural and historical experts, and other lecturers. Many of the team members participated in the line’s inaugural Antarctic season in 2013, which was also led by West.
Guided by real-time reports on wildlife, weather and ice conditions, West and his team will plan complimentary Zodiac landings in the Antarctic each day and wildlife sightseeing trips. In addition, award-winning nature photographers will provide digital photography coaching, while guest speaker will join passengers as part of the Seabourn Conversations enrichment programme.
“We are proud to offer a very experienced expedition team that grasps the significance of Antarctica and its diverse landscape, wildlife and climatic conditions,” said Seabourn president Richard Meadows. “With their expertise and dedication, our team will create an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime Antarctic journey for our guests.”
Beginning on 29 November 2014, Seabourn Quest will sail four 21- to 24-day voyages between Valparaíso (Santiago), Chile, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Gueste will visit the Chilean coast and fjords, Beagle Channel, Glacier Alley, Torres del Paine National Park, the Falkland/Malvinas Islands and Montevideo. The itineraries also inlcude six days of cruising and landings on the Antarctic Continent.
A 24-day trip, which departs on 20 December, will include two days in South Georgia to enable guests to see King Penguins and other seabirds, as well as breeding elephant and fur seals.
