Asian operator Star Cruises has conditionally contracted shipbuilder Meyer Werft to construct a 150,000 gt cruise ship at its yard in Papenburg, Germany.

Due for delivery in autumn 2017, the 3,330-passenger newbuild will be Star Cruises’ eighth cruise ship, as well as a sister ship to the vessel the line ordered in October 2013. It will be serviced by a crew of about 2,030 and have a top speed of 24 knots.

In addition, the ship will feature a variety of restaurants, entertainment venues, casinos and a number of high-class suites tailored to the Asian market.
