Royal Princess will offer three new youth centres to enhance the onboard experience for its younger passengers when it debuts in June 2013.
Younger guests onboard Princess ships can already enjoy a variety of activities including educational workshops, the Junior Chef@Sea programme, pyjama and ice cream parties and a Kid’s Fun Fair. The youth areas on the 3,600-passenger vessel will ensure children and teens are able to socialise with other guests in their own age group, as well as participate in activities specifically designed to maximise their onboard experience.
“It's always important to us that passengers of all ages have a great time onboard,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises executive vice president. “Naturally we’ve included features on Royal Princess to make every moment of the cruise memorable for our youngest passengers, as we love hearing them tell their parents that they can’t wait to come back.”
Princess Pelicans will provide children aged 3-7 with an indoor play area, as well as space for movie nights, arts and crafts and games. There will also be an outdoor playground with toys, group games and tricycles.
Guests aged 8-12 can visit Shockwaves, which features indoor and outdoor lounge areas, game stations, a large television and a DJ booth. Youth counsellors offer various arts and crafts activities, while the children can enjoy pizza and ice cream parties.
Remix is a new teen area for passengers aged 13-17 and will offer an indoor lounge area with games facilities, a DJ booth and an outdoor lounge with contemporary seating, club lighting, a wading pool and music. Royal Princess will also provide a specially designed programme of teen-only events including formal dinners, ‘mocktail’ parties, hip hop dance classes, late night movies, video game tournaments and sports competitions.
