American Cruise Lines has launched its latest paddlewheeler at the Chesapeake Shipbuilding yard in Maryland, US.
Launched on the Wicomio River, the unnamed ship was guided by tugs to Chesapeake Shipbuilding’s East Outfitting Basin where the upper decks and outfitting will be completed.
“This is a significant milestone in the construction process and also for American Cruise Lines,” said Timothy Beebe, the company’s vice president. “We look forward to introducing yet another new paddlewheeler on the Mississippi River and its tributaries.”
The unnamed newbuild will have the capacity for 150 passengers and is scheduled to begin sailing the Mississippi River and its tributaries in spring 2015. The vessel is the second of the line’s ships to be built for the Mississippi River.
American Cruise Lines also has two additional riverboats on order.
