Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has confirmed a €2 billion ($2.08 billion) order for four new cruise ships with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, almost a year after signing the initial letter of intent on 8 April 2024.
Fincantieri’s Monfalcone yard will build four 226,000gt vessels for NCLH’s Norwegian Cruise Line brand, which will delivered in 2030, 2032, 2034 and 2036. Each ship will feature over 5,100 berths and accommodate more than 8,300 passengers and crew, making them the largest in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet to date. They will be built to the “latest standards in comfort, technology and sustainability”, according to Fincantieri.
NCLH has a longstanding partnership with Fincantieri, which previously delivered Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva and will soon deliver Norwegian Aqua, the first of the brand’s Prima Plus-class vessels. There are also three other ships in various stages of design and construction.
“Once again, we are contributing to the creation of state-of-the-art cruise ships, capable of bringing a unique sailing experience onboard, combining comfort, advanced technology and innovative sustainable solutions to reduce environmental impact and improve energy efficiency,” said Fincantieri in a LinkedIn post.
