Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed the new culinary and beverage experiences debuting onboard Norwegian Aqua when the Prima Plus-class ship sets sail in April 2025.
Sukhothai, the company’s first Thai speciality restaurant, will offer a menu of traditional dishes reimagined with new twists, including Thai Cashew Chicken, Salt and Pepper Prawns, Thai Grilled Steak Salad, and more. The restaurant’s decor has been created by London-based interior design firm SMC Design, combining traditional and contemporary Thai design elements. Guests will be greeted by bamboo and rice paper lights, a geometric patterned floor and colourful furniture when they visit the venue on deck 17.
The returning Indulge Food Hall onboard Norwegian Aqua will feature a new eatery, Planterie, which will offer plant-based bowls and health-focused food. Located on deck eight, the menu will include dishes such as the Southwest Bowl with smoked tempeh and the Mediterranean Goddess Bowl with spiced vegetables, tabbouleh and honey-roasted carrots. The Indulge Food Hall itself will feature a new interior design by New York-based firm Rockwell Group, with 10 food stations drawing inspiration from international food marketplaces around the world. The space will include features such as deep wood accents, gold and metal furnishings, and warm colours throughout.
Also debuting onboard Norwegian Aqua is the Swirl Wine Bar, a wine lounge located on deck six between the Whiskey Bar and hibachi-style restaurant Hasuki. The small venue will feature a wine-by-the-glass menu and a list of rare and premium vintages. Miami-based design firm Studio Dado has created an interior inspired by the Antelope Canyon in Arizona, with warm colours complemented by cascading horizontal lines and blue touches.
The Commodore Room has been redesigned for Norwegian Aqua to recall the feel of a Captain’s room from the past
Several returning venues have also been redesigned for their new iterations onboard Norwegian Aqua. One of the main complimentary dining rooms, the Commodore Room, will now feature a design inspired by its namesake, created by Studio Dado. The venue will feature antique wood furnishings; leather banquettes; floors that mimic the lines of a pier; and stone accents, all intended to create the feel of a captain’s room in the past.
The Metropolitan cocktail bar, meanwhile, will be relocated from mid-ship to the aft of deck seven. The venue will now feature a grand piano and a small entertainment space for guests to listen to live music. Studio Dado has also reimagined the décor of the venue, with a design inspired by the art deco and mid-century areas of New York that will feature dark hues, new motifs and fresh greenery.
Studio Dado drew inspiration from Japanese manga for the new design of Nama Sushi and Sashimi
Nama Sushi and Sashimi, which first debuted on Norwegian Prima, will now feature a fresh design by Studio Dado, drawing inspiration from Japanese manga with colours of lime green and black. London-based design firm AD Associates has created a new design for the Surfside Cade, showcasing warm colours and sunset tones, while the nearby seafood restaurant Palomar has been redesigned to include natural materials, such as rope and wood accents, throughout the space.
Penrose Bar and Waves Pool Bar will also be reimagined with new designs, and venues such as The Local Bar & Grill, Hasuki and Cagney’s will be expanded.
