On 19 December 2016, Norwegian Cruise Line will mark 50 years since its first-ever cruise vessel, Sunward, made her inaugural voyage from Miami to the Caribbean.

Sunward’s 1966 voyage marked the birth of Norwegian Caribbean Lines, which has now become a global cruise brand with 14 purpose-built ships sailing to more than 300 destinations worldwide.

To celebrate the anniversary, the company has invited guests, travel professionals, partners and team members to share their photos and memories to NorwegiansFirst50.com as part of the #NorwegiansFirst50 Anniversary Campaign. People who participate in the campaign have the chance to win a free cruise.

“We are celebrating 50 years of incredible moments aboard our ships and it’s the people – our guests, travel partners, team and crew members – who make our history so special,” said Andy Stuart, president and CEO for Norwegian Cruise Line. “We wouldn’t be here today without their loyalty and dedication. We invite everyone who has sailed with us, commemorated a special occasion with us or made memories onboard to share their favourite moments and celebrate our first 50 years along with us.”

Norwegian will also offer official 50th anniversary cruises this December, including Norwegian Breakaway’s eight-day itinerary that will depart New York on 18 December and take guests to Florida and the Bahamas.

Alternatively, guests can sail from Miami to the Western Caribbean on Norwegian Getaway, or from Tampa to the Western Caribbean on Norwegian Jade. On 19 December, guests will be able to board Norwegian Gem in New York to visit the Eastern Caribbean on a 10-day voyage, or join Norwegian Pearl in Miami for a 10-day Panama Canal adventure.

Guests sailing on the anniversary cruises will receive US$100 of onboard credit.
