Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Epic returned to service on 19 October following a three-week drydock at Damen Shiprepair Brest in France.

New onboard areas include a photo gallery, a library and card room, and The Cavern Club entertainment outlet. The ship also features a new SplashGolf venue in the Kids Aqua Park, which allows guests to enjoy an interactive water-based game of mini golf, and a new Broadway show, Priscilla Queen of the Desert – The Musical.

Extensive renovations also took place various existing restaurants including Moderno Churrascaria, Cagney’s, La Cucina, Le Bistro, Garden Café, Manhattan Room and Taste. Many received new carpets, fresh décor, reupholstered furniture and more.

Norwegian also added new lighting fixtures, artwork, wall coverings, furniture and more in the Mandara spa, Bliss Ultra Lounge, pool deck Marketplace, Epic Theater, Casino and the exclusive Haven suite complex.

“Norwegian Epic’s extended drydock has given us the opportunity to not only enhance the ship’s public spaces but to add significant new features, including a brand new Tony Award-winning musical with Priscilla Queen of the Desert, a new entertainment venue with The Cavern Club and new activities like SplashGolf,” said Andy Stuart, president and COO at Norwegian Cruise Line. “We continue to heavily invest in our current fleet, to ensure that guests have a consistent experience across all Norwegian ships and the freedom and flexibility to create their ideal cruise vacation.”

Damen Shiprepair Brest also completed technical modernisations and maintenance work, fitting a pair of ‘Becker rudders’, more efficient propeller caps, and energy-efficient hull paint. Plus, the lifeboats, tender boats release systems, thrusters and stablisers, air ducts and storeroom refrigeration systems were also upgraded.

Norwegian Epic will sail from Barcelona, Spain throughout winter 2015 and summer 2016, before she returns to her new Port Canaveral cruise port in the US in autumn 2016.
