Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis of the Seas made her inaugural visit to St. Kitts on 24 March.
Making the first of five visits in 2016, Oasis of the Seas brought 6,380 guests and more than 2,183 crew members to the West Indies island and hosted an onboard plaque exchange ceremony to mark the inaugural visit. This ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Tourism, St. Kitts Tourism Authority, St. Christopher Air and Sea Port Authority, High Command of the St. Kitts Police Force and the ship’s agents Delisle Walwyn & Company.
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome the inaugural call of the Oasis of the Seas,” said the Honourable Lindsay Grant, Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Industry and Commerce for St. Kitts. “This is one the greatest ships in the world, and so when in port, it is indeed a very special event for the destination.”
Two other cruise ships arrived in St. Kitts on 24 March, bringing the total number of cruise visitors to 14,000 in one day.
St. Kitts is expected to host more than one million cruise passenger arrivals in 2016.
