Phoenix Reisen’s Amera has become the first ship to call at the port of Odessa, Ukraine in more than two years. The ship’s arrival on 30 October 2019 comes 29 months after the last call in June 2017.

While Odessa has welcomed several sea-river vessels during the intervening two years, Amera is the first foreign cruise liner to visit the Ukrainian port following a period of political instability. Amera arrived from Constanta, Romania with 750 passengers onboard, before 11 buses took guests from the berth on an extensive excursion programme around the city.

Amera called in Odessa as part of a voyage around the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, which also includes calls in Nice, France, and Istanbul, Turkey. Her arrival marks the beginning of the return of cruise ships to the port, with 11 foreign vessels expected in 2020 and a further 16 applications already received for 2021.
